How to Install Springs on 2.5 Coil Over Shocks

These instructions are for Fox 2.5” Coil Over spring installations. They will be helpful for all shocks but there are slight differences between shock manufacturers. So, with your shocks and springs in front of you, let’s begin!

(For reference UP means top of shock)

1. Lift the lower spring seat UP.

2. Carefully remove the o-ring on the steel retaining clips. Don’t destroy it as you will be reusing it.

3. With the o-ring out of the way, remove the steel retaining clips.

4. Slide the lower spring seat off from the bottom of the shock.

5. Slide the Spring Guide (Floater) off from the bottom of the shock.

6. Slide on the top coil spring from the bottom of the shock. Then follow it with the spring guide as pictured. The long collar on the spring guide points up.

7. Now slide the lower coil spring on the shock from the bottom and follow it with the lower spring seat.

8. Replace the steel retaining clips with the skirts pointing in the downward direction.

9. Replace the o-ring to keep from losing the steel retaining clips.

10. Slide the lower spring seat over the clips and adjust the tension on the top nuts to secure the coils into position and you are done!

Now you’ve got a fully functional coil over. For more information on tuning suspensions check out www.offroad-engineering.com and click on the Tech Info icon. We’re working hard to help you!
